The attested form is too fragmentary to be amenable to an etymological analysis. The sequence ko- appears also in komoneos (TI·40, TI·42), komonos (VR·1), koimila (VB·26), koneu (VC·1.2), koplutus (BS·17), kopiu (CO·66), koliu (VR·19), kośio (VR·15), koisis (PG·1.2, PG·1.4), koiśa or koma (TI·2), kop (TI·18.2).
